How I process my Feelings in my Art

Building Layers with Mixedmedia: Collage, Stencils, Painting, and Drawing
Переглядів 2,9 тис.Місяць тому
In this demo, I’m creating a painting in my sketchbook by layering collage, paint, and drawing media. I’ll talk you through what I’m thinking about as I apply each technique and what I’m trying to achieve. The most important focus is to be playful and experimental and have a keen eye for discovering what you love in the work. In this painting, I loved the colour combinations, the shapes I found...

I'm so sorry you had to say goodbye to your beloved Ginny. She was beautiful! As for offspring, that can be difficult. I don't know your details, but I have two kids in their 30s and they're both doing really well in life and love. You envision a path for them and then they veer off in their own direction, finding their own way no matter how difficult it is for us to watch. In the end, all we can hope is that they find joy and happiness in whatever form that takes. Judy, I'm glad your art is comforting to you. It is definitely therapeutic, that's for sure! I love the artist community. Most of us are very supportive of each other and I so appreciate that. I hope you find comfort in sharing.

Hi Judy,so sorry for the loss of your goat Ginny. I recently did "goat yoga," and they were adorable! Small, fainting goats(although I didn't see any faint). Here's a hug...BB💚

Hi Judy may I ask what brand is your oil pastel? I have Sennelier and Paul Rubens and they are much oilier, they do not stay put even if crushed over with a couple of coats of gloss medium.

I'm sorry you lost your sweet goat - I imagine she had a sweet life with you. That doesn't make it hurt any less. I think she approves of your art therapy as it's helping countless others of us who have also lost our "goat". Thank you Judy

Two, on facing pages of scrapbook: (1) assorted patterned papers (scrapbooking, photocopy, etc) placed more or less randomly; (2) strongly patterned self-made paper (stencil, etc) cut into rectangles, arranged into a strong composition. (1) Then, seal w gloss medium. Then, black paint applied and manipulated (scrapped, waterdrops, etc) Cover some areas with white or black, use stencil, etc. Look at light and dark shapes, repeat some shapes. Yellow pencil; add colored/printed paper to side 2, scraping, etc.

I love these two ideas. I have been thinking about Miró after seeing his works in Barcelona. I love the childlike simplicity of his works. I will try to emulate him in the studio. I know many artists were plagued with self doubt and frustration often destroying work. (Monet for instance) I do think it’s part of the territory and I don’t know how they got by without UA-cam 😂
